江苏教育学院现在的全称是江苏第二师范学院。该校由江苏省人民政府主办，是一所省属公办本科院校。学校前身是1953年创办的苏南军区干部学校，1954年更名为无锡师范学校，1958年升格为无锡师范学院，1970年迁至镇江，1971年更名为镇江师范专科学校，1978年升格为镇江师范学院，2000年中国农业科学院蚕业研究所与学校合并，组建为江苏教育学院。2013年，经教育部批准，学校更名为江苏第二师范学院。
